[EU: <PictureName>, <Y> ]

Electric Up

Related to the _SAR pictures, which show the left pantograph lowered and the right pantograph raised.  The [EU: ] command  assumes that  the original picture shows both pantographs lowered and that the picture <PictureName> shows both in their raised state.  The   <Y> parameter defines the base point for the picture <PictureName>. The entire locomotive with raised pantographs must not be redrawn entirely: it is sufficient to simply draw the top part of the vehicle that changes.

The premise of this command is that the states of raised or lowered pantographs are depicted by the change of half of the overlay picture   <PictureName>. So a locomotive travelling right with the rear pantograph raised would actually be showing the overlay picture   <PictureName> only over its rear half, whereas the front of the locomotive is depicted by showing the base picture.  Because the  majority of electric locomotives have two pantographs, one on each end, this is a possible use of this command, but is not suitable for electric busses, EMUs or some other vehicles.  Please bear this in mind when using this command - and test the result in the Graphic Testpad / Macro Editor window, when using this modifier.

The commands [EC: ], [ED: ], [EU: ], [EX: ], [EM: ], [EMC: ], [EMX: ] as well as the use of the _SAR pictures in the form <BasePicture> < <_SAR_Picture>  are only intended to facilitate the use of base pictures which were not specifically drawn for the traffic program. The preferred method of depicting pantographs in Traffic is by way of a series of phase pictures (which should be grouped into a single image containing all of the portions of the animation) in order to create a fluid, animated motion.  The second best method is to depict both pantographs in their lowered state and to draw each pantograph's raised state as a separate graphic.
